The Monroe Art Guild was founded in 1993 as a community-based visual arts center. It has since grown to include artists from all disciplines and artists working in traditional crafts, but it remains the only arts center in Walton County.

The Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts, as it is now called, offers free gallery exhibitions, a wide range of classes and workshops, youth summer camps, art talks, and member and community receptions.

The center continues to lead in community activities such as seasonal festivals, while also providing a center for art expertise.
